Aarikka

Aarikka (アーリッカ)
"It all began with a single wooden button"

In 1954, Kaija Aarikka was about to graduate as a textile designer. As her final project, she was finishing a dress made from hand-woven, natural-colored fabric, but she couldn't find any stylish buttons that perfectly matched the design. So, Kaija bought some wood and crafted her own wooden buttons that were just right for the dress. The buttons she made instantly attracted attention, and thus Aarikka was born. Today, Aarikka is known as a global brand and has become a part of the history of Finnish industrial design. Offering a wide range of over 250 items, from jewelry to gift products, Aarikka is a brand loved by many, sold today not only in European countries but also in the United States and Japan. Starting from the handmade buttons of Kaija Aarikka in 1954, Aarikka is a brand cherished in many countries, offering warm products carefully crafted from birch wood.

Features of Aarikka Design

Aarikka's jewelry is unique and comes in a wide variety of designs. It is characterized by colorful, beautiful shapes and a silk-smooth, glossy finish. This method was developed by the founder and designer Kaija Aarikka in the 1950s, and the formula is still kept as a trade secret and used in our manufacturing process. The Aarikka jewelry collection enhances the personality of the wearer through its colors and shapes, and the possibilities for combinations are endless. The key-shaped symbol is our mark that our products are made in Finland. Many of the products bearing this symbol are assembled at home or in facilities for people with disabilities. Creating social employment has been part of our mission since the 1970s. Assembling products locally helps shorten transport distances, which is one of the factors contributing to the ecological nature of our products. Furthermore, we avoid unnecessary packaging and promote the use of environmentally friendly materials such as wood.
